Cat 7 is Under Construction.
No really... Cat 7 is being worked on (read that as "being argued about") by EIA/TIA. The European community wants a shielded paired cable for high speed data. The US LAN hardware people want cat 6 to be the end of the line for copper. With fiber being the cable of choice for 10 gig.

The Cat 7 connectors are pretty wild, (read that as "hard to terminate and very expensive") but our friends in Germany feel very strongly about shields and emissions. So stay tuned...
